Il tempo ha giocato come in una danza, nella storia di questa donna. A 25 anni si diploma all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Stoccolma, e con quattro artiste crea il club de fem…le cinque. Un club di artiste e ricercatrici spiritualiste che diedero vita ai primi dipinti astrattisti, con dieci anni di anticipo sui noti pittori astrattisti. Tele enormi con i caratteri distinti dello stile astrattista. Nonostante la sua cultura e bravura, non fu presa in considerazione e ancor peggio bloccata come artista, perché appartenente al gruppo dei teosofi, lasciando così il titolo di padri dell’Astrattismo a Kandinsky e Mondrian.
Volevo proprio mostrare con la vita di Hilma la grandezza delle donne, la loro consapevolezza che non c’è solo il tempo presente per dimostrare e affermare le proprie idee, e manifestare la propria persona. Una donna è capace di superare il tempo e il silenzio, come ha fatto Hilma af Klint che ha scelto di non mostrare i suoi bellissimi dipinti, non prima di vent’anni dalla sua morte, che poi in realtà sono diventati quaranta. Sì, avete capito bene, il mondo ha conosciuto Hilma af Klint, madre dell’Astrattismo solo nel 1986, grazie al nuovo proprietario della sua casa in campagna, che in cantina trovò grandi scatole di legno con dentro tutto il suo lascito artistico. Chiamò il Museo d’arte di Stoccolma, che ritirò tutto il materiale: più di mille dipinti, disegni e saggi teorici di arte astratta.
Una donna arriverà sempre ai suoi obiettivi, anche se la fermeranno con la forza e il potere, questo è quello che ci ha insegnato Hilma af Klint con la sua vita.

I wanted to use Hilma’s life to show the greatness of women, their awareness that the present is not the only time to demonstrate and assert their ideas and express themselves. A woman can overcome time and silence, as Hilma af Klint did when she chose not to show her beautiful paintings until twenty years after her death, which turned out to be forty. Yes, you heard right, the world only got to know Hilma af Klint, the mother of Abstract Art, in 1986, thanks to the new owner of her country house, who found large wooden boxes in the cellar containing her entire artistic legacy. He called the Stockholm Art Museum, which collected all the material: more than a thousand paintings, drawings and theoretical essays on abstract art.
A woman will always achieve her goals, even if she is stopped by force and power. This is what Hilma af Klint taught us with her life.
