Passo e chiudo.
ONE, NONE AND A HUNDRED THOUSAND: THE WOMEN OF THE SUBURBS BY MICAELA RAMAZZOTTI
Today’s article is dedicated to Micaela Ramazzotti, one of the finest actresses in contemporary Italian cinema. I am writing about her because last week I had the pleasure of watching the film “Una Famiglia”, in which she masterfully played the role of Maria, the fragile partner of an unscrupulous man.
I have always admired Micaela Ramazzotti because she manages to give a voice and a presence to all those women who have no voice in this society. They are the women of today’s existential peripheries, those who have no right to express themselves, yet are subjected to psychological, physical and moral abuse. These are the existential peripheries where no one ventures, because there is no media coverage. These are the worlds of those women excluded even by other women, who still want to fight for the right to yet another piece of nonsense.
The women of those existential peripheries are the very ones for whom the Baxter Blog was created and continues to exist. It is for all the Desirés, the Marias, the Annas, the Soniás – in short, for all those women to whom Micaela Ramazzotti has given life.
It is for those women that it is still worth fighting; it is for them that it still makes sense to raise our voices, but by changing the direction of this megaphone, which for too many years has been held up to the mouths of privileged women. And perhaps this is also why feminism has waned to this day, and why we are no longer taken into consideration by politics.
Yes, this is an accusation I level at the feminism of 2026
which, as always, is in the hands of the salon-going, intellectual left. But ‘feminist’ and ‘communist’ are merely rhymes! In my view, we should stop living off the achievements of the past and start reconnecting with reality. Because the truth is that women in 2026 are lonelier and more trapped than they were in the 1950s. Today we are more exploited than ever before, with social and cultural models that enslave us and leave us lost. The only ‘rule’ seems to be to disobey and shout – though these days it’s not even clear which rule we’re supposed to be defying.
I am highly sceptical of today’s feminism, because not only is it out of step with many social contexts, but for far too many years it has gone hand in hand with the world of homosexuality, to which we are now all too willing to give our wombs, so that human beings who by nature cannot become parents may do so.
Let us remind everyone that a man with a man cannot bring any life into being, nor can a woman with a woman. It is Mother Nature who has imposed this upon us, not the law, not religion, nor any other institution you may hate.
A few months ago, I was explaining to a friend of mine who’s in politics my views on this social trend and on the mission of the Baxter Blog. She told me to be careful about touching on these kinds of topics because it’s dangerous. Well, let’s be clear: the Baxter Blog wasn’t created to please everyone, and as its logo says… It has no masters.
In fact, I wrote today’s article precisely on this subject, inspired by watching the film “Una famiglia”. Maria is the protagonist, a woman who is exploited by her shady partner, who gets her pregnant so he can sell the baby to wealthy heterosexual and homosexual couples who cannot have children of their own. This film really made me think, first and foremost because it’s not a work of fiction, and secondly because of the world surrounding that kind of unscrupulous business and the outrage shown by the buyers towards the couple… look who’s talking.
I don’t know where the Baxter Blog will end up, but I know why it was created and what it’s fighting for, and one of the reasons is to give a voice and a platform to these women’s experiences that people would rather not talk about. In short, the Baxter Blog has no masters and tackles whatever topics it chooses. Over and out.
